Origin of Blogs

Before the origin of blogs, there were various different forms in which the digital communities existed. Usenet, commercial online services like GEnie, BiX and the early CompuServe, e-mail lists and Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) are the names of few mostly used forms of digital communities.

Prior to the birth of blogs during the decade of 1990s, the Internet forum software, developed some running conversations with the help of threads. The threads are the name given to the topical connectors between the contents on a virtual corkboard.

About the origin of blogs, it can be said that the online diary eventually transformed in to blogs. Online diaries were the places on the internet in which users would keep a running account of their personal lives. The users or the writers who used to write in online diaries were known as diarists, journalists, or journalers. The most famous person among this category was known as Justin Hall, who started the concept of personal blogging in the year 1994 when he was studying at the Swarthmore College. He is known as one of the earliest bloggers.

During the early days of blogs origin, they used to simple sites on the internet here content was updated manually.
